And, we’re off!

November 3 – Travel Day Edmonton to Amsterdam

Today marks the start of our 3-week journey!

After saying goodbye to the dogs, who absolutely knew something weird was going on, we headed out.

Flights within Africa have a pretty strict weight limit of 33lbs (carry on and checked bags combined! More on that in a second), so we packed light. I managed to fit all my clothes into a 40L bag that weighed in at 19.6lbs. The kicker is my camera bag…… which is a 30L Shimoda backpack and weighed in at 24.8lbs. One of the bonuses of going with a photography tour is that the organizer (Greg) buys a freight seat to allow extra baggage. We still had to pack light, but I didn’t have to stay under 33lbs.

Every trip Greg takes donations. This round, he packed approximately 200lbs of clothes, shoes, towels, teddy bears, and other items to donate to those who live in Masai Mara.

Next stop, Amsterdam!

Thanks for wandering with me,

Julie
